Atlas Kiwifruit plant (Actinidia deliciosa 'Atlas') is a vigorous male plant, and an essential pollinator partner for female fuzzy kiwi vines. One can to pollinate up to 8 female kiwi plants in nearby locations. Atlas Fuzzy Kiwi plant is particularly well-suited to pollinating the cultivar 'Hayward'. It will improve fruit yield on the self-fertile female cultivars 'Jenny' and 'SOLLISIMO'. As a male Fuzzy Kiwi, it will not produce fruit itself. The heart-shaped leaves and beautiful creamy white flowers of Atlas Kiwi Vine make it a handsome ornamental vine. The green deciduous leaves turn an eye-catching yellow in the autumn. Mildly fragrant flowers with pretty yellow stamens will attract bees, butterflies and other pollinators to your garden. Train it along a pergola, trellis or arbour. Atlas Fuzzy Kiwi appreciates heat and direct sun. An area sheltered from the wind, preferably near a wall or fence with southern exposure would be an ideal location. Atlas Kiwifruit vine is hardy to zone 7b (-15 °C or 5 °F). For gardeners living in colder areas, plant early in the season to give the vines time to establish; consider mulching around their roots in the fall; and cover at least the basal stems with a winter cover. Alternatively, grow it in a large container, and shelter it in a cold frame greenhouse or unheated garage during the coldest months. Once established, female plants and a pollinating male plant can be planted in the same container in order to save space. Actinidia deliciosa, known as Fuzzy Kiwi, is native to China and locally commonly called "Yangtao", meaning "Strawberry-peach".
