Lemon Pepper is a fast-growing, aromatic, evergreen Bay Laurel tree, native to the Mediterranean. Pyramidal in shape, this bay leaf typically grows to 15 feet tall, but is commonly pruned smaller for garden purposes. The thick, green, glossy leaves are used as a culinary herb for flavouring meats, BBQ, stews, and soups. Laurus nobilis 'Lemon Pepper' has a more lemony flavour than Laurus nobilis 'Crispa', as well as longer, wider and flatter leaves. The aromatic foliage is also used for holiday garlands and wreaths. The female plant produces small, yellow-green flowers in the spring, and when pollinated, purple-black berries. In regions colder than USDA Zone 8a, the bay tree should be grown in household containers, and brought indoors in the fall. Very easy to grow and long lived in containers.
