Contact Straight Rubber Gag The Contact Straight Rubber Gag, works on the horses lips and poll simultaneously. The mouth piece when raised in the horse’s mouth will apply pressure on the corners of the mouth. This will encourage a raising of the horses head. The leverage action then applied to the horses poll encourages a rounder more contained frame. This bit has rope runners that go through the snaffle ring creating the gag action. The rubber mouth piece evenly distributes the pressure across the horses tongue and bars of the mouth. This bit is for horses that are strong pullers or have a tendency to go very heavy on the forehand. These gags are traditionally ridden with two sets of reins, one rein set on the snaffle ring and one rein set attached to the gag runner.
